Göhren is located in the middle of the Mönchsgut biosphere reserve (a type of nature reserve). The Baltic seaside resort is surrounded by two beautiful, fine sandy beaches, the north and south beach. The north beach is developed for tourism and is home to beach chair hire, restaurants, entertainment for young and old as well as the pier and the 3 km long beach promenade to Sellin. The 10 km long south beach, a dreamlike natural beach, leads you to Thissow, Göhren itself is situated on a hill from which you can see the vast Baltic Sea. The village is connected to the beach by an inclined elevator and a beach bus.
