ST Francis Bay
St. Francis Bay is a fantastically beautiful and sun-kissed vacation resort in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The thatched roofs of all the houses here make you forget for a moment which country you are in. Only the architecture of the harbor district, which is reminiscent of the Mediterranean, brings the astonished visitor back to the here and now.
The transport connections in St. Francis Bay are very good. It takes about an hour by car to get from Port Elisabeth to the mouth of the Kromme River, where the tourist jewel of St. Francis Bay nestles against the water in an incomparable way.
Sport and landscape
If you are a passionate surfer, this is the place for you, as the beautiful beach with its fine white sand is a real paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Between August and October, you can even see whales passingby in St. Francis Bay. Guests who would like to stay in this visually opulent dream city may be interested in a vacation home on one of the many waterways of the extensive canal system. There is always a luxurious and elegant touch of Venice here. Of course, you can also reach the River Kromme by boat along these routes, and exploring it by water is a natural experience in its own right.
For golf enthusiasts, the town center offers an excellent 18-hole course.
Places of interest
The town's harbor is all about delicious seafood and is famous for its sea-fresh squid. Passionate anglers who are drawn further afield can also set sail from here for deep-sea fishing.
Landlubbers are well advised to take a trip to Cape St. Francis, just 10 kilometers away. Here there is a beautiful old lighthouse to visit, the famous fynbos landscape to explore on foot, natural cliffs to climb and the wild surf of the sea to experience up close.
